Taru Mehta
Many of us suffer from heart problems like high blood pressure, angina pain, blockage of arteries etc leading to severe heart attacks in some cases. This is due to the stress generated in our day to day life due to the severe competition in all the fields. Moreover, many of us also suffer from the day to day diseases like cold, cough, sinus, and even cataract affecting your eyes. The anulom- vilom pranayama cures all these diseases effectively within a maximum period of around 3 to 4 months. I have seen many persons cured even from the blockage of arteries of heart by performing this simple breathing exercise for around 5 minutes per day. However, the key point is to perform this pranayama daily without any break and with positive thinking in our minds that I am getting cured from all my diseases by doing this pranayama.

The procedure for doing this exercise is simple. Sit in Padhmasana with your both the thumbs touching the first fingers of your hands, and keep the hands rested on the knees. Keep your posture straight and erect and concentrate by taking slow and deep breaths, keeping your eyes closed. Try to isolate yourself from this world, emptying your mind completely from all thoughts. Once you are ready, close the right nostril with your right hand thumb. Inhale very slowly and deeply through the left nostril till your lungs are completely full of fresh air. Then, holding your breath, close your left nostril with your right hand middle and third fingers. Exhale through the right nostril slowly, emptying your lungs completely. Repeat this exercise very slowly in the beginning. This entire cycle is treated as one cycle. Try to reach to around 120 numbers of this breathing exercise over a period of around 2 months. Initially, you may be able to perform this exercise only for around 10 to 15 times and that too after feeling tired in between. Increase this number very slowly, avoiding overdoing of this pranayama at any time. If you feel tired in between, please take rest for couple of minutes by taking deep and slow breaths and start again. You must perform this exercise for maximum period of 12 minutes per each sitting. This would mean around 100 to 120 rounds of this exercise. The constant positive thinking in your mind that you are being cured of all your diseases while doing this pranayama would help tremendously and would cure you from any diseases pertaining to high blood pressure and heart related arteries blockages. The key is in not missing this exercise, even for a single day. The usual rules of doing this exercise with empty stomach and clean digestion system must also be followed. Try to restrict this exercise to maximum 5 minutes during peak summer. However, you can reach up to 15 minutes maximum during the severe winter.

The diseases pertaining to Rheumatisms gout, urinary system, and regenerative organs are also cured by this pranayama. If this pranayama is practiced daily for around 3 months, around 30 to 40% of the arteries blockages are dissolved and removed. However, do not try to stop your regular medicine on your own, on feeling great by doing this pranayama. Always be in touch with your family doctor and slowly, go on reducing your medicines dose based on the doctor's advice. The negative thinking and the depression also go away by doing this pranayama. All the nadis of our body are cleaned thoroughly by doing this pranayama. In addition to this, the energy lying in the Moola chakra of your body awakens by doing this pranayama regularly. Your memory power also would increase. Doing this exercise cures even the cataract of eyes. The benefits of doing this exercise are too many. What we all need is to perform it on regular basis by spending only around 10 minutes per day. Why not start it from today itself then?
