How to Cure Sleep Apnea Naturally

Patricia ZelmEmmart, CHHC
The number of people with Sleep Apnea is growing every year. Doing some simple research I found these suggestions to help mild cases of Sleep Apnea. For more serious cases one should consult Your Doctor.

• Reduce your weight 5-10 lbs. When people are carrying around extra weight this can obstruct their breathing airways while they sleep.

• Avoid Drugs and Alcohol- Both of these slow down a person's respiratory system which will lead to sleep apnea.

• Avoid sleeping on your back- sleeping in this position allows the tongue to fall back into the airways and allowing for obstruction to occur.

• Flower Remedy/ Essence Therapy- The flower remedy is called Vervain, it is a perennial wildflower commonly found in England growing on the road side. Whole Foods Stores carry this in dry herb form and can be made into a tea. This stimulates relaxation and a calming effect.

• Using a few pillows to elevate the head so as to not lay flat. Another idea is to use the pillows that are designed with a hole in the middle. They are designed for the base of the head to fall into, but keep the airways open to breathe well.

• 5-HTP- This is an amino acid made from a natural plant extract that raises serotonin levels in the brain. So, for people who are suffering from Sleep Apnea by using serotonin precursors has a great value.
