How to Cure a Sports Hernia Injury

Michael Grisso
"It was a Mardi Gras party at a local restaurant and patrons were throwin' down beers like their was no tomorrow. At one point every single beer tap was blown and all the kegs in the back were empty. Running back to switch them out as fast as possible the empty ones were quickly thrown to the side then the full ones were picked up and placed in the appropriate areas so the taps could be placed back on and the guests could go on with their adult beverage drinking. Then it happened, picking up one keg of beer and twisting a certain way a sharp pain pierced through my lower abdominal region.

Figuring it was just a pulled muscle work would continue and by the end of the night the pain had pretty much subsided. Pulled muscle? Possibly, but two years later a small pouch grew in the same area. Some mornings you can find that it disappeared long enough to think it had healed only to realize an hour later it was just another "Groundhog Day" and would appear once again when you least expect it. As years pass it doesn't get any bigger, but it is still painful at times and needs to be addressed".

Don't worry, this isn't your regular boring medical chart , but a simple definition you can understand and get the idea. Hernia is in short a weakening of the muscles in the lower abdominal wall (if you would like a more medical definition click on the link in this sentence). Just one of those injuries that people get away from fixing because they can still do their day to day routines (although sometimes altered) with work, exercise, driving, etc. However, another reason found is that people cannot afford to get their sports hernia fixed. 10,000 reasons why is not what many want to hear. While the majority of the cost will be covered by insurance is great the 40 million Americans that don't have insurance and the percentage of them that have sports hernia it becomes a serious issue.

The first two paragraphs above are true accounts of myself then and now. One sharp pain earlier in the afternoon was good enough reason to see if their were alternatives to surgery. If you do decide on surgery for sports hernia plan on going through an eight week rehabilitation according to Jonathan Cluett, M.D. which was also reviewed by Kate Grossman, M.D. One of the downfalls to sports hernia surgery is the stability that fixing it using a sutured repair (Just as Curt Schilling had in his Achilles) to reinforce the area could be broken and you will have to go back again. Trying to alleviate this challenge to many I went searching for an alternative.

Enter a smaller version of a thousand year old formula in the Orient called Tiantai Lindera Powder. This sports hernia version is called HernEase which claims that using the medicine properly will strengthen abdominal walls, soothe pain, and correct the state of weakness of the related organs. More importantly the company's website states that you will start to feel results within a week or possibly sooner. However, it also lets you know that "HernEase as a traditional Chinese remedy for hernia is effective for hernias except hiatus hernia. It works best for hernia at early stage. There are no side effects."

They suggest that you use at least two bottles taking 2 capsules 3 times a day. Will it work? Who knows and this article is not written to make you believe it will. However 2 bottles for $70 is definitely worth the chance if it saves anybody $10,000 if not more.
