The best thing to do is to gather the right kind of supplies before you even start. Typically, you will probably want to have some basic things on hand. Q-tips are particularly valuable and clove bud, while obscure, can help as well. Clove is something that you might have trouble finding just anywhere, but it is very helpful in helping your tooth ache.
If you succeed in finding the clove bud, then you are on your way to getting rid of the toothache. You will want to put a little bit of the clove onto your Q-tip, which you should have already gotten. The next part might be a little bit painful, but you will have to do it. Take the Q-tip and touch the area where the pain is coming from. This will be important in killing those nerve endings for a little while.
While this is argued to be one of the best "alternative" ways to cure a toothache, there are other ways to do it, as well. Most people use mouth wash or Listerine to clean their mouth and freshen their breath, but it can help take away a tooth ache, too. If you take some of this liquid and swig it around the hurt area of your mouth, it will kill some of the bacteria and relieve some pain.
Another great way to get rid of a toothache is to use the means of baking soda. If you take baking soda and dissolve it in warm water, it can serve to take away some of the pain of the toothache. Since the primary ingredient in the baking soda is a base product, it acts against the acids that are causing your pains.
There is sometimes a problem with infection that will cause your tooth pain. Generally, you can buy painkilling medications over the counter in order to fight against the tooth pain if it is caused by an infection. If you have a strong stomach and you have a very high tolerance for pain, then you might consider taking action against the abscess. In this scenario, you would take a pin and burst the infection, relieving pressure and pain.
