One thing that we tend to do that really does not make any sense is to, eat out. Eating out can drain a budget quick but most of us do this because we think that it is faster, easier, and just makes since in our busy world. The truth is that it cost less to eat at home and if you are worried about the time that it takes for you to prepare a meal, use your grandmothers way of thinking and prepare more than what you need and freeze or put the rest of it in the refrigerator. By preparing your own meals you will save money on the food, money on gas, and probably even help your health out a lot.
Impulse buying is also a big no, no. Markets depend on impulse buyers and this is where they make a lot of their money, from people who buy things because they like them instead of just what they need. If you find yourself buying a lot of stuff that you really don't need, then you are probably an impulse buyer. The way to fix this is to write down the things that you need before going to the store and only take around the amount of money that you need to purchase those items. This will save you a lot of money when you are not buying the things that you don't need.
Take trips only when necessary. We often tend to go on trips and not meaning to spend a lot of money, we often do. This is because we have that little bit of extra cash on us and feel the need to purchase items. Trips can be expensive even when we are just going to the lake. If you find yourself taking a trip anyways, only take that cash that you need and a little extra for emergencies.
