Easter crafts are always a hit with children. This craft is not only cute but also useful. The adorable Easter bunny basket is easy and fun to make! It can be completed by children of all ages. You may choose to read the directions and cut out all pieces of construction paper before beginning.
Materials
Empty, clean clear gallon milk jug
Bottle of glue
Red, white, black, pink, and blue construction paper
Large bag of white cotton balls
Two pink cotton balls
Directions
- Wash and rinse the jug with detergent.
- Use scissors to cut the top of the jug off. Cut a small circle from just above the handle to the front of the jug. Be sure not to cut off the handle. An adult should only complete this step.
- Use a towel to wipe any excess water from the inside of the jug.
- Cut two rabbit ears out of white construction paper.
- Cut two smaller rabbit ears out of pink construction paper and glue them in the middle of the white ears.
- Glue the ears to the back of the jug on each side of the handle. Make sure that the ears are facing the front. The handle is in the back.
- Use the glue to place one pink cotton ball in the middle of the front of the jug to make the rabbit's nose and one at the bottom of the back of the jug to make the rabbit's tail.
- Continue using glue to add white cotton balls to rest of the entire jug. Cover a small section of the jug with glue at a time. Pull each cotton ball slightly to release the rounded ball shape. Press the cotton to glue and hold for a couple of seconds.
- After the entire jug is covered, cut a red u shape out of construction paper for the mouth.
- Glue white construction paper rectangle pieces to the mouth to create teeth.
- Glue the mouth under the pink nose.
- Cut out black strips of construction paper for whiskers. Glue the whiskers to the face. If you desire this step can also be competed using black pipe cleaners.
- Cut out white construction paper ovals for eyes. Cut out blue construction paper circles to go inside the eyes to make pupils.
- Glue the eyes above the pink nose.
- Fill the basket with Easter plastic grass and enjoy you egg hunt!
