Homemade cutlery dinner party invitations can be a fun activity to enjoy while trying to ease the demands of planning a social event. Learn how to make a set of decorative invitations using simple school supplies and craft items. A cutlery invitation can fit a variety of dinner party themes and can also be used for scrapbooking activities if you want to create keepsake items for guests to take home.

Materials needed to make cutlery dinner party invitations:

1 Sheet of Grey 8 by 11 inch construction paper
1 Sheet of Black 8 by 11 inch foam paper
1 Glitter pen
1 Tube of school glue
1 Miniature note card
1 Hole punch
1 White 5 inch long piece of string
1 Pencil
1 Pair of Scissors
1 Ink pen

Place the gray construction sheet on a table horizontally and then trace your silverware stencils onto the paper using a pencil. Keep one or two inches of space on both sides of each stencil that you trace to leave enough room to cut the construction paper. The finished drawing should include an image of one fork, teaspoon and knife. Cut three rectangle shapes out of the black foam paper. Each rectangle should be approximately 3 inches long and wide enough to slightly exceed the width of your fork, spoon and knife handles when placed on top of them. Cut the silverware shapes out of your gray construction paper.

Glue one foam shape to the top of your cutlery handles to cover the upper edges of these kitchen tools. Make sure to sit the cutlery on a table facing upward when attaching the foam shapes with clue. The foam will become your new silverware handles for these party invitations. Decorate the black foam handles after the glue dries completely using a glitter pen to create a variety of shapes or abstract designs. You can use one color or several colors of glitter to design the silverware handles, depending on the theme of your party.

Write your party information such as the invitation greeting, date, place, theme, time and location of the event on a miniature note card using an ink pen. You can also type the party information in a computer document, print it out, trim it to a smaller size and then glue the printed sheet to the inside of your note card. Punch a hole into the upper left or right corner of the note card and then put half of the white string through this hole.

Gather your finished pieces of cutlery and sit them next to each other to display them as a 3-piece set of silverware. Tie the string around the middle section of your cutlery set to attach the note card invitation. Repeat all of these instructions to create multiple sets of cutlery invitations that will accommodate all guests who are invited to your party.
