Make your own dance video
Making your own dance video is a fun way to express yourself, dance and show people your skills as a dancer. Many people make their own dance videos and post them on YouTube. If the video catches on with a viewing audience, it can go viral, which means hundreds of thousands of people have seen your video. Justin Beiber was discovered by his YouTube vids.
You may not become a star, but you can have fun, while doing your thing! First, fix the atmosphere of your dance spot. Don't dance around in your bedroom (unless it looks like a dancer's quarters, e.g. balance bar or mirrored background and wood floor). Make sure your dancing area is clear of furniture and clutter. Put interesting art in the background, or set the background to look like a theme for the type of music you dance too.
If you are dancing to jazz, hang art that has pictures of jazz players in the background, or a city scene. Set your camcorder on the opposite side of the room, directly in your path, so the camcorder pics up your moves from a wide angle, while you dance. You don't want to do your best dance moves off camera, so set up a practice shoot to see how you look.
Wear a cool costume. Don't dance in old clothes. You want to give the appearance of professionalism as a dancer. Wear hip clothing only if you don't have dance clothes; something flashy or themed to go with your music. Wear accessories, such as hats. Don't wear a hat if it interferes with your ability to dance. Some people can wear hats and use them in performances, such as the late and great Michael Jackson. Make sure your camcorder pics up the music you are playing. People are not going to watch someone dancing (even if you are good) if they can't hear the music.
Dance freestyle, modern dance, or anyway you want. Freestyle is the best choice if you want to express cool dance moves. If you are skilled in classic dance or ballet, simply do your thing and watch the results as your YouTube hits go up. Don't be insulted if someone leaves a negative comment about your video. You don't have to post it public, and you can also disable comments if people are overly rude.
