How to Use Dancing to Flirt If You Can't Dance

It's easy to use dancing to flirt if you know how to dance. And if you know how to dance, you probably don't need to read any articles on confidence, dating, or flirting with anybody.

So I thought I'd take on something a bit more challenging...helping people who actually need it. There is a way to use dancing to flirt if you can't dance. I've done it and seen it done numerous times.

Here's how to use dancing to flirt if you can't dance.

  1. If you can't dance, you want to use that fact as an icebreaker, not a weakness. So locate the girl or guy you want to flirt with, and make some good eye contact before you go over.

  2. If you can talk to your potential date before you dance, do so and frame yourself as someone who doesn't take him/herself very seriously, and likes to have a good time. That way, when you dance, they will be expecting humor, not skill, which is just fine if you frame it correctly.

If you can't talk to them first, just skip to step 3.

  3. There are many trendy dance steps that don't require much dancing skill, and this is what you will lead off with. From the Cabbage Patch in the 80s to Jerking now, these dance styles are about self expression rather than technical dance skill.

When you approach, show that you're in the know by doing one of these dances. Don't take yourself seriously at all. Put a smile on your face and invite your date to dance with you.

Don't get all up on them at first. Stand back and dance confidently. Wait on them to come to you. This is a very powerful attitude that not many people can resist.

  4. Once you draw your date into the stupid trendy dancing, you have framed yourself as someone who can't dance and doesn't care, which says more about you than actually being able to dance, because you show confidence.

Now that you have shown confidence, get closer to your date by taking him/her somewhere and doing something that you are actually good at. Good luck!
