How to deactivate your FaceBook account:
Step 1- Log in to your FaceBook account as usual. This will give you access to the deactivate account option.
Step 2- Click on the "Account" button at the top right side of your FaceBook page. Choose "account settings" from the drop down menu.
Step 3- At the bottom of the page, you will see an option for "Deactivate Account". Click on the link to the right side of the screen.
Step 4- Check the correct option to let FaceBook know why you want to deactivate the account. If you choose, you can give a further explanation by typing in the box.
Step 5- If you are at the administrator of any groups, make sure that you mark the group as closed. Just check the box and it will take care of it. If you come back, you will be able to be administrator again. You will have to make yourself the administrator though. It will not happen automatically.
Step 6- This is an important step. Make sure that you check the box to opt out of getting any further emails from FaceBook friends. The reason is that if you get an email and click on the link to the site, you will have to sign into your account. If you sign into your account, it will automatically be reactivated.
Step 7- Click the confirm button which brings up a box for you to enter you password.
Step 8- Enter your password and press confirm. You will then be given a confirmation code to enter. Enter the confirmation code and click submit.
After you complete all the steps, you will be logged out of FaceBook and will disappear as far as your friends can tell. In order to restart your FaceBook account, simply log back in. Don't forget to make yourself administrator again if you have a group. FaceBook has some privacy issues as well as several issues with viruses getting into peoples inboxes. These are just two reasons that someone might decide to deactivate their account. You can totally delete your account, but you can only do so by going into the deactivation help page.
