How to Deal with Apocalyptic Disaster

joe garcia
In light of the recent 7.0 earthquake in Haiti and the slew of apocalyptic world ending movies, such as 2012, it seems only prudent that people should think about how they would react in similar situations. Would they have emergency plans in place for their families to utilize? Where would they go? Who would they help? Could they dare hope to survive?

The odds are great that at some point in time each of us may face great danger from some type of natural disaster. Survival will not be easy, but possible. By following the steps outlined here, the probability of survival will be much greater.

First, and foremost, STAY ALIVE. You will be of no good to yourself or anyone else if you are dead. Family members and even friends and strangers may depend on you and your decisions of action.

Second, learn to overcome your fears. By doing so you will be of greater help and it will actually help to calm the nerves of others around you. These type of situations can easily leave people in shock behaving irrationally. Exercise extreme control and calm because many others will not do so.

Third, take care of your family but remember that there are other people in the same situation, or worse. Remember, that the continuance of our species many times is dependent on our humanity.

Fourth, the world around you will be in a shambles. Sources of supplies and materials commonly needed and used will not be readily available. Learn to use anything and everything you can. Try to think in advance. For those of you who recycled, this will be a breeze.

Fifth, assess your immediate situation and decide what is needed and available. Look for water, food, medicine and tools. Look for communication and transportation aids as well as for fuel, heating and lighting aids. Quickly make a tentative plan of action and carry it out allowing for changes due the changing situation and environment.

Sixth, and sometimes the most important step of all. Take a moment for reflection. Offer prayer, prayer requests asking help for all those struck by the disaster. Offer a prayer of thanks that you and yours may survive to see another day and hopefully a better day.

Obviously there will be much needed to do, However, if these basic steps are adhered to, then we can all be that much closer to another tomorrow. Not being an expert in this field of endeavor, by contemplating this scenario today, it gives me and you one step ahead of others.
