How to Deal with Cranky Administrators

Lets
I have been working with this type of people for a period of time. I remembered one time when I talked back to my supervisor to assert my right. I'm not supposed to do that but I want him to realize that I need respect as his subordinate. I was surprised he just keep quiet and didn't do it again to me. I worked with 3 different people whom I considered strict, cranky and perfectionist. But I love them all because behind their personalities they are nice if you know how to deal with them. We became good friends while my co-workers are scared and nervous with their presence.

Here are some ways on how to deal with these kind of people.

Study their styles

I could still recall one time when I turned in my reports, my supervisor found out that I missed a comma and period in some areas of my report. She called my attention right t away then gave her embarrassing remarks in the presence of others I just smile to hide my embarrassment and ignore what she said. I get back my report and walk out as fast as I could remember back to my room. How I wish she called me in private. This incident teaches me a lesson to be careful and cautious in everything that I do. I studied her attitude, her likes and dislikes, how and why she react to certain things, her manner of communication and how to handle her in general. From that time on, I know where to place myself because I studied her styles.
When you are familiar with the leadership styles of your administrators, you know also what to do and how to react in certain things.

Be Responsible in all your assigned task.

When you are assigned to do something by your boss, do it at your best. Don't submit a haphazard or untidy report for the sake of accomplishing your assignment. You will gain the confidence and trust of your supervisor when you are responsible in doing things. Since you are already familiar with your boss' styles, you have now an idea of how to do impressive work. Once your get the good impression of your supervisor through your commendable work, things will be easier for you in dealing with him/her.

Don't argue or complain publicly

Worker who always complain is a challenge to all administrators. There are times that our administrators made mistakes or make decisions that are against our ideas. In this case, we should respect their decision. Don't argue or voice out your complain in public. This will embarrass and upset your administrators. The more they will be hard on you because you're touching their ego. This marks a bad record on you. The best thing to do, is talk to your boss in private and present your point of view or your opinion in a cool and friendly way. They would appreciate this approach and might change their idea and follow yours.
It pays to be patient and respectful to our superiors . They will realize their mistake if you know how to deal with them.

Be On time/don't always come late

Being on time in every appointment is a plus factor for you to have a good relationship with your boss. Tardiness is a headache of every administrator.
A worker who is always tardy will miss the important instructions for the day. It would make him inefficient in his work because of lack of direction and the supervisor feels bad repeating the same instruction for late people. Workers who come early can easily be noticed by supervisors and this gives him an impression that this worker is dependable.

Be willing to volunteer

In time of need, be willing to fill in the gap. If somebody has a problem and is unable to do his job, be there to assist. Volunteer to do something for him .
He will be glad you do it for him and it is also satisfying to be able to help someone. Your boss will be glad to have you around all the time because
of your unselfish spirit. Your concern for the benefit of everybody will take you one day to a better position.

If you are familiar with the weaknesses and strength of your cranky administrators and you know how to deal with it, you will always be the top worker to them.
Promotion awaits you and you will gain the best relationship with your boss and co-workers.
