So I read through a couple of these sites and after viewing what they had to offer I came to a big conclusion. You would be paying someone to do the very things which you could do yourself.
Let me explain a little further. A couple of the sites explained how hard it was to contact the major credit bureaus and that generally they would not take you seriously about wanting to investigate your past credit history. They made it seem almost intimidating to even try to deal with your own credit. This bothered me a little so I went to an info site to see exactly what all these agencies could do that I could not.
Are you ready for this. Attention people with bad credit you can contact the credit bureaus yourself. I found through minimal research that we all have the right
under the Fair Credit Reporting Act to challenge or dispute certain items on our credit reports that we feel are invalid or incorrect. I know from experience bad credit can really put you in the cleaners when your trying to purchase a car or a home or even open a bank account.
Before you start paying outrageous fees to have someone try and fix your credit I would try the basics first.
One try and contact your creditor maybe work out a payment plan with them,or if you feel like you have been overcharged or not received credit for payments made contact the creditor and request a record of your payments and compare them to your own records.
If nothing seems to be working you can contact the credit bureaus and request information on filing a dispute over certain charges. You might want to even contact the Better Business Bureau and see if any complaints have been registered against the creditor and if you feel it necessary you may want to file a claim with the B.B.B. yourself.
I just felt like putting this out there because so many companies are out to make money of the misfortunes of others and they make you feel like you are facing the greatest monster to the human race if you try it alone.
I feel that we can fix a lot of our own credit problems if we have the knowledge of how to approach it. I had bad credit and believe me the last thing I really wanted to do would be pay someone to attempt and straighten my credit out for a minimal charge.
Also a word to the wise, anyone who gives you a guarantee that items will be removed from your credit reports I would probably either research them extensively or get something in writing and check the laws of your state to see if it is legal for them to guarantee you anything.
There are so many things out there for people with bad credit and it is a beware market because everyone wants the light at the end of the tunnel just make sure it's not a train getting ready to run you over with a scam.
Take the time contact creditors and keep an updated credit report. The big items are to keep payments on time to creditors and keep good records of your payments as well as dates they were made and if you have to speak with anyone about payments write down the name or id number of the person your speaking with. I hope that some of this helps anyone who thinks they are at a dead end street with their credit.
