How to Deal with Everyday Stress

Amanda Dyar
Stress affects your everyday life and if it isn't properly dealt with than it can overcome your life. Everyone has a busy schedule and most don't get the proper time they need for themselves.

The first thing you need to do when you get home is to go to a room and sit in complete quiet for ten minutes. This gives your mind time to wind down and relax. While you are sitting there, you need to take deep breaths in and out and slowly release them as you blow out. These ten minutes will drastically improve your life.

The next thing you need to do in a day is to take a brisk walk. The exercise from this will enhance how you feel and can reduce the tiredness feeling that overcomes all of us after a long day. The thing to remember here is even if it is just ten minutes a day to an hour that you need this time to yourself. So this means no doing laundry, cooking, etc while you are doing these activities. The most important things to any individual are their family, friends, career, health and education. These activities are hard to complete if you are not looking out for you first.

If you are experiencing increased stress beyond normal than you may notice anxiety or panic attacks, physical symptoms, such as stomach troubles, headaches, or even chest pain, sleep problems, and even sadness and/or depression. In order to keep a check on stress it is important to not over schedule yourself. It is very important to get enough rest and this means getting at least eight hours of sleep a night. Treating your body well is crucial and eating healthy, well balanced meals plays a big part in that.

Your way of thinking also influences your overall health and level of stress. Keeping a positive outlook and attitude affects how you deal with situations and problems that arise. The last step is to build your resilience. This means believing you will succeed in your goals, taking action to solve problems as they happen, and building a healthy support system for when you need help. Stress is what we make of it and if we chose to live a healthy and happy life than we can overcome the stress that life throws at us. The most important thing is to always look at everything in a positive outlook and than to go from there.
