How to Deal with Migraine Headaches Naturally

Jeanne Marie Kerns
Millions of people suffer from migraine headaches all around the world, nearly 60% of those who do suffer are women. There are prescription drugs that may work for you, but first you should always try natural ingredients to ease the pain of a migraine. These are great home remedies for migraine headaches that I have found to work very well.

1. A heating pad is always a good thing no matter what is going on in your life. If you have a migraine, turn the heating pad on medium and place directly on your forehead for approximately 30 minutes. Do this every couple hours or until the migraine has subsided.

2. Tiger balm is almost like menthol cream, but a bit stronger and works much better. Most of the time you can buy it at an oriental store, cost a few dollars and brings relief within minutes. Take a very small amount on your fingertip and rub on both sides of your temple. You will feel slight heat at first, but then it begins to ease the pain.

3. When I first heard of this, I wondered how it would work, but it does and it does well. Buy some really strong mustard, open the jar and take a huge sniff of it. Do this five times in thirty minutes and enjoy the relief of the migraine headache.

4. This was always "grandma's remedy" when I had a migraine. A spoonful of honey every 15 minutes for an hour with a glass of water each time. With the first spoonful of honey, the migraine begins to slowly go away.

5. Last but not least, one of my favorite ways of easing the pain I have from my migraines sits on my bed all day and night. Pillows are a great way to help ease the pain of migraine headaches. All you need to do is turn off all the lights, the television, shut your bedroom door, and lay on your stomach with the pillow over your head. This will not take all the pain away, but it will relieve some of it.

Remember, if you have had a migraine for over 24 hours and nothing seems to be helping, please consult a doctor immediately.
