When a pregnant woman's due date gets close she starts to get anxious and wonder when the baby will come. And then her due date comes and goes and then she starts to get upset and frustrated. Dealing with an overdue pregnancy is not an easy task. Being 40 plus weeks pregnant is not comfortable for a pregnant woman. Not only is the woman uncomfortable physically she has tons of different emotions running through her mind. If you find that you have an overdue pregnancy or are nearing your due date and it doesn't look like the baby is coming anytime soon, there are some things that can help you deal with the overdue pregnancy. Here some suggestions on how to deal with an overdue pregnancy until your baby enters the world.

If you are being bombarded with phone calls and emails asking if the baby is here yet and why the baby hasn't been born, then you need to put a stop to these. These phone calls and emails from family and friends, although they are meant well, will only add to the stress and frustration that you are feeling. Let all of your family and friends know that you will call them or email them as soon as the baby is born and in the mean time please stop asking about the baby being born. Make it known that you will call when the baby is born and if they don't hear anything that means that you are still dealing with pregnancy.

Enjoy the last times of being pregnant. Believe it or not, many woman actually miss being pregnant once the baby is born. If you are dealing with an overdue pregnancy make sure that you take time out to actually enjoy the last moments that you have of being pregnant. Talk to your belly and just relish in the movements of your baby inside of your womb. You may be surprised at how fast you miss being pregnant.

Make sure to get plenty of rest and sleep. Use your overdue pregnancy as a time to get in some rest and sleep before the baby arrives. Once you have a newborn in the house, you will not be getting half as much sleep and rest as you were when you were pregnant. If you are working, you might want to think about taking your maternity leave now so that you can catch up on your rest and take naps during the day.

Take heart that you will not be pregnant forever. After 41 weeks of pregnancy, most doctors will consider inducing labor for an overdue pregnancy. The doctor will most likely give you an ultrasound to check the fluid levels and see how large the baby is measuring. Depending on the results, your doctor will choose to induce labor in the next couple of days. Nowadays, most doctors will not let a pregnancy go over 42 weeks.

An overdue pregnancy allows a woman to prepare for her baby. This means that you can wash all the clothes, make sure that the baby's room is completely finished. cook some meals to freeze for eating when the baby is born and make sure that all the plans are in order for your baby's birth. The extra time allows you to make certain that everything is handled and that everyone is well prepared for the birth of the baby.

Lastly, realize that your pregnancy due date is actual a "due week" No matter how advanced medicine is, there is no way to actually predict when your baby will be born. That is why you should take your due date as actual a week or so that your baby could be born. During that week, relax and try not to think about it too much. (I know it's hard!) Stressing out about an overdue pregnancy is not good as too much stress can be a danger for you and your baby. Just sit back and realize that this is just the start of your baby doing what they want and your schedule being planned according to them!
