How to deal with Stalkers

Stalkers are more than a nuisance they can be dangerous as well. This article will help you gain insight on how to deal with these stalkers and get some relief.

Stalkers follow you around in your location, contact you or family members both online or offline. This becomes a crime after you tell the stalker to cease all contact.

Ex lovers or friends who enjoy the power of making a victim squirm, online by contacting the victim after the victim has said there is to be no contact. This is a crime, punishable by law whether the stalker believes it or not. All fifty of these United States have laws in force, which cover stalking. Generally stalking is a harassment charge unless psychical abuse occurs and then it is assault.

Stalkers online or offline love the cheap power trip they get from seeing the victim squirm. Therefore, the trick is to show them that you do not care what they are doing. At times, this is easier said then done, but a reaction from the victim gives that stalker the power trip they crave. I don't squirm; I take a stand and take away the power.

However sometimes you need to take a stand to lessen the damage to some degree. To do this, make a general statement on public forum without using names or specific situations to let stalker know his or her behavior is unacceptable.

What can you do to limit the online contact? Do not talk to a stalker via chat, instant message, or post message directly to them. Block them on all social networking programs, your email, and any instant messenger programs. If you share mutual friends, ask them to share no personal information with the stalker about you.

What can a victim of a stalker do offline to protect himself or herself? Take them off your cell phone contact list and simply pretend they do not exist. Do not frequent the places that you two used to frequent together. Shop at a new grocery or department store if possible or if necessary visit the store at a different time.

Create screenshots of all the messages, statements etc of when you make your stand and say no contact and if the stalker continues to harass you do multiple screenshots as evidence. Take the evidence to the law enforcement officials in your location and let them deal with the stalker.

To make a screenshot, simply press the prt scrn, which is located on every qwerty keyboard currently on the market. This prt scrn button is located up from the delete button. After you hit that button, paste it into a graphics program or even a word processing program and simply print it off.
