How to Decide If Your Las Vegas Hotel Room Really Matters

L. Vincent Poupard
As someone who has written hundreds of articles about Las Vegas travel, I have found that some of the most common questions about Las Vegas center around Las Vegas hotel rooms. In most cases, though, your Las Vegas hotel room is not that important. This article is geared towards those that have wasted extravagant amounts of money in the past on Las Vegas hotel rooms, those that are considering spending a lot in the future, and those that have never been to Las Vegas before.

Your Las Vegas Hotel Room Might Not Matter

The average person does not spend very much time in their Las Vegas hotel room. Essentially, Las Vegas hotel rooms serve only a few purposes: sleep, storage, and showering. If you are planning on spending a lot of money on your Las Vegas hotel room, see if you can justify the higher amount by telling yourself what you will be doing in the room other than these three things.

Does Your Las Vegas Hotel Room View Really Matter?

If you are only going to be in your Las Vegas hotel room to sleep, shower, and change, do you really need a decent view? The average person is going to have the shades pulled while sleeping, showering, and changing. If you are only going to be doing these three things, what does it matter if your view is of the other Las Vegas casinos?

Few Extra Benefits

Few Las Vegas casinos any more give special benefits to those patrons that are in suites. The Bellagio, Wynn, and MGM Grand are the only three that come to mind that have any kind of significant benefits to those that pay the extra money for their Las Vegas hotel room. If you are not going to get anything better, why spend the extra money?

The Same Bed

For a long time, Las Vegas casinos would put much better beds in the more expensive rooms. In the last ten years, this has fallen to the wayside in the ever-changing world that is Las Vegas. Don't figure that if you spend extra money on your Las Vegas hotel room, you are going to get a better night sleep.

The next time that you plan on heading to Las Vegas, ask yourself questions that pertain to the points that are in this article. Do you really need to spend the extra money to get the best Las Vegas hotel room? Do you need to have the best view? Should you save the money on the Las Vegas hotel room so that you have more money for the casinos? Only you can decide.

I used to work at a hotel- and you're right. The room doesn't matter. Sleep, crap, and shower, that's about it. Go cheap as you can while still staying out of a crack shack I say. You're not missing much.
