How to Decline a Job Offer

A job offer is something which excites most of us. It may be a job you are getting for the first time or may be a part time job. There is always the joy of receiving an offer for a job.

There is a case under which you can decline a job offer before acceptance. What you can do is enabling yourself to get selected till the final stages. Before taking the appointment order you can exercise your decision to decline a job offer. Based on various grounds such as job content, remuneration, present employer not relieving you and protection of your pay there and other related factors. These circumstances are also very much extenuating. You have to handle this very diplomatically and tactfully so that you do not lose your present job opportunity. These circumstances should be properly explained and communicated effectively to the prospective employer for enabling him to appreciate your circumstances, at the same time not jeopardizing their efforts for selection of another candidate. Under these circumstances a logical explanation is called for proper analysis and decision by the prospective employer. Social, personal and economic situation also play an important role in declining a job.

Commonly there are also cases you can come across. In the process of negotiating with the prospective employer candidates are able to take some other job offer in hand and which they find it better than the subject one. They have valid reason properly maintained relationship with the prospective employer also. They turned out the job offer without losing the real employment opportunity provided by the other job offer. You should be very careful that you should not reveal the name of the job offering company to anybody. This has to be handled extraordinarily secretively so that your decision does not boomerang. Therefore, this decision also has to be very calculative. You should try your level best to protect the interests of all concern and maintain relationships without enmity whatsoever. You should always amicably settle or disputes and get into a win-win situation for all. It must be remembered that it is the relationship that always counts. No one would like to get back to the drawing board and start the recruitment process all over again. It should be noted that a huge amount of time and money has been spend in finding the right candidate for the job.

This decision can be taken before the acceptance of the offer by taking the appointment order. The following points should be noted for declining the job offer before its acceptance:

Proper follow up for a logical explanation for declining the offer.
Proper explanation to the prospective employer for declining the offer.
Hurdles in the present appointment order with the existing company for which without waiver it would not be possible for a proper joining position elsewhere.
Emergence another offer which demands priority.
