One of the things I did was to redecorate our bedroom. Actually this is not a separate bedroom--this is our bedroom that we are trying to transform into a baby-friendly zone.
First thing I did is to transform a blank wall into baby's space. We intend to have this wall as "BabyLandia" or "Baby's Garden". And when people come to visit us, they can pose for photos with this scene at the background. They can carry our baby, too, if they want. Anyway, what I did was buy several colors of the material called "rubber slice" from our local upholstery store.
Then I cut out common shapes, like clouds, sun, birds, grasses and flowers, and some tiny animals like butterflies, a caterpillar and a bee. And using double sided tape with foam, I taped everything onto the blank wall, so we have a new vista in our room. Of course, you can have this scene painted. But my husband said that painting would have a different effect thant he rubber cut outs.
We also emptied out one cabinet and assigned it as baby's cabinet already. And since we don't have a name yet, we just named it baby and I put a plant beside it.
My next project at the Red, Black and White stuff for baby. I will be making posters and a mobile from colored cardboards and a blanket that I will hand-sew.
This room is my hubby's former room that he shared with his brother before, hence the blue motif of the room. Anyway, we don't have a budget for repainting--so blue it is, whether our baby is a boy or girl.
You don't have to have a lot of money to do this. We just made the most of what we have. And I used my creativity. These are just simple crafts that you can do at home at a very minimal cost than hiring a designer.
