How to Decorate Your Classroom for the Winter Months

When it comes time to decorate your classroom for the winter months so many ideas start to flood your brain. You may not know where to start. Below I have a step by step guide on how to bring your classroom to life during this winter.

Step One - Ceiling
Here is your chance to keep those Christmas lights out. String lights along the ceiling in rows. Make sure they are LED lights to keep the cost down. Use a staple gun to keep the lights secured. After the ceiling is covered ( use around 2 to 3 strands of lights) staple black construction paper along the ceiling to cover up the lights. At every light bulb cut out a circle around it and pull the light bulb through it. This is going to give you the illusion of a stary night.

Step Two - Warm Lighting
To add the soft warm feel, place small table lamps throughout your room. Make sure there are energy efficient light bulbs in the lamps. This will give that cozy winter cabin feel to your classroom.

Step Three - Cozy Seating
In certain sections of your classroom, preferably in a corner with a little lamp nearby, add a few bean bag chairs, over sized pillows, and throw blankets. You can also have a few book cases places near this comfy seating arrangement.

Step Four - Snowmen
Of course your room is going to have to have snowmen throughout the classroom to add that extra winter touch, however do not do small ones, make sure you have two big snowmen. Also have your kids make the snowmen. Break the girls and boys up into two different groups and have them make two snowmen that stand at least 4 feet tall. You will place these snowman on empty wall space. Give them craft supplies like cotton balls, pipe cleaners, sponges and etc and have them decorate it however they want to!

Step Five - Revamp
Remember the name tags you placed on the children's desk at the beginning of the year? I imagine they are looking pretty rough right about now. It is time to make those name tags new again, but this time replace them with winter theme name tags. If money is to spare, share new pencils with the students that have a winter design on them.

Keep it simple, okay everything with the school principal before you go ahead with any ideas, and make sure you do things that are kid friendly. If you stick with that, you will have a warm winter classroom that all the kids will love.
