The first item that you are going to concentrate on is her bed. You can buy her a comforter that is a solid color unless you can find one that has a fairy on it already. Choose a dust ruffle for the bed in a different color than the comforter. After this you are going to choose pillows. Make sure to use complimentary colors with the comforter and dust ruffle.
Now comes the fun part. This is going to take a little bit of creative spirit on your part. You are going to create a trellis above her bed. You can go to http://interiordec.about.com/cs/girlsrooms to get some ideas on how to do this. When you go to create the trellis you are going to use coordinating fabric that matches her pillows or dust ruffle. This will balance out the colors.
After you have created the trellis you are going to either wallpaper or paint a mural right above her bed and below the trellis. The mural should be of fairies and a fairy land. In order to do this you might want to get a coloring book or a child's book to get some ideas on some pictures. Don't be afraid of making mistakes. If you add dish soap to your paint if will make it easier to remove. Just keep working with it until you feel comfortable.
The next thing that you are going to do is to create some fairy wings and hang them throughout the room. You can hang them from lights or doors or even on the wall. You can create fairy wings from pliable wire. Just shape the wire into wings. Once you have done this you can glue fabric of your choice (preferably tulle type material) onto the wings. What is nice about this is that you can make the fairy wings all different sizes.
The last thing that you can to your daughter's room is to finish painting and maybe do some stenciling. You can create stencils by using coloring books. Trace a picture a wands and fairies onto a piece of cardstock or stiff paper. When you go to stencil the picture onto the wall you can choose any color of pain that you want the pictures to be. Be sure to add a little bit of dish soap to the paint so that it can wash off if you make a mistake. You can also use the stencil on her trashcan, laundry basket, and light sockets in her room. This will really give a great finishing touch to the room.
I know that you are going to have a lot of fun decorating your daughter's room in a fairy theme. There are so many great supplies out on the market to choose from to help you out. It is very easy to find coloring books with fairies in them so you will not have to worry. You can also use acrylic paints from the craft stores. They are very inexpensive. You can usually find them for under $1 each. If you look through the craft store you will also find more items that you can use in your fairy theme.
