How to Decorate Easter Eggs in Unique Ways!

Tara Cellars
Decorating Easter eggs is a fun tradition for most families. There are many ways you can decorate the eggs. First you will always need to boil the eggs. If you want to eat them after the kids find them, you will need to boil them properly, so they come out of the shell in one piece. To do this, all you need to do is put your eggs in a pot that is big enough to hold them and the water. Cover the eggs with water and then turn on the burner. Next bring the eggs to a hard boil. Turn off the heat immediately and put a lid on the pot. This works every time. They will turn out perfect. Note: After decorating some of the eggs with these ideas, they cannot be eaten! It will be noted, do not eat!

You can make eggs appear marbled by following these easy steps.

In separate containers that are deep enough for an egg to be covered by the dye mixture, combine 1 T. of oil, 3 T. vinegar, and 1 T. of food coloring for bright colored eggs. For traditional colored eggs substitute the vinegar for lemon juice, and for pastel colors don't add either. Add enough water to be able to cover the egg completely. Mix the liquid with a spoon and quickly put the egg in and quickly take it out. Let it dry and then do it again with another color the same way you did in the beginning. You can do this with as many or as few colors as you like.

You can make some interesting patterns on eggs by putting stickers on the eggs before dipping them in regular Easter egg dye. All you need to do is place stickers on the eggs and then lower them into the dye. For a darker color leave the eggs in longer. After the desired color is achieved lift the eggs out and allow them to dry. When they are dry, remove the stickers and you will have a new design on the egg.

You can also make striped eggs by wrapping the egg with masking tape before dyeing. This will make your egg perfectly striped. You can also cut out different designs within the tape if you like. Another easy way to make unique striped is to wrap the eggs with rubber bands before dying. You will definitely come out with unique eggs.

You can paint eggs, but these cannot be eaten! If you allow the children to paint the eggs, they can paint them any way they want. They choose the designs and can make each egg unique.

The children can also glue sequins or jewels to the eggs for a different look, but these too cannot be eaten.

You can make splattered eggs that resemble robin eggs and other bird eggs. These are very messy, but are also very pretty. You should do this in a box. Place the egg in a box and with a small paintbrush splatter egg dye onto the egg. The reason you put them in the box is that the dye will splatter everywhere.

You can also wrap an egg in cheesecloth to make the eggs resemble reptile eggs. All you do is wrap the eggs in cheesecloth and fasten it with a rubber band. Then dip the eggs into the dye. If you want a darker color, let it sit in the dye for a while. When you get the desired color, remove and let the egg dry. Do not remove the cheesecloth until the egg is completely dry!!!

Each of these ideas is very easy to do. You must keep in mind that they all take time. You must be patient, but in the end you will be able to enjoy your creations. If you are using paint, it would be best to use blown eggs.
