With today's economy families are finding it hard enough to just get Christmas gifts and dinner on the table. Decorating our home if we do not already have them from years past can seem like a task that would just cost too much extra money. However there are cheap little items and ideas that we can do that will make it easy to decorate our homes for Christmas on a budget.

Many stores like Family Dollar, The Dollar Tree and Dollar General offer great items to decorate for Christmas at very affordable prices. Hand Towels decorated for Christmas cost about a dollar each and they are great on your end tables to use as table covers. It gives them a festive Christmas look.

Purchase a couple strands of Garland. Garland can typically be bought for a couple bucks. Drape it around your doorways. Get some Christmas decorated placements. These can usually be bought for around a dollar each. A Christmas decorated plastic table cloth can be bought for two dollars or less.

If you have Christmas cards from past years tape these on an area of your wall where you want to add a Christmas scene. If you do not have any Christmas cards you can buy a box of ten for around a dollar.

Another neat thing I like to do at Christmas is wrap my pictures hanging in my living room in Christmas wrap. Simply take your pictures off the walls wrap them with Christmas designed wrap, and hang them back up. Your home looks like it has gifts everywhere. It is a nice festive touch, and does not harm your photos, simply take the Christmas wrap off of them when Christmas is over.

To give your windows festive looks buy a can of fake snow. You can spray it on freehand if you are good at this kind of thing. If not you can buy Christmas stencils, or if you have Christmas cookie cutters you can use those. Tape the stencils or cookie cutters on the windows and spray inside the designs.
