1. Plates
Decorative plates come in many different styles, colors and sizes. Start a collection that represents special occasions in your home such as mother's days or anniversaries with the years printed on them or look for a theme that feature designs such as horses, Norman Rockwell's scenes or flowers. You can even have a special collection for the holidays, such as Christmas plates that you can change them out with when the season comes.
2. Utensils
Another trick for how to decorate kitchen bulkheads are to display collections of antique or novelty utensils. Spoons that feature different states you've visited, old silver serving pieces or even antique graters and sifts can be hung on nails or decorative hooks.
3 Small Shelf
A narrow shelf can be installed the length of the bottom, right above the cupboards. Smaller items such as a collection of salt and pepper shakers, bells or figurines can be displayed on it.
4. Pictures/Artwork
Hanging pictures or artwork is a great way to dress up the space. Read Sensational Soffits: Kitchen Decorating Tips for Creating Unusual Displays of Kitchen Art, Pictures, and Crafts for ideas on what to use and even how to make your own to fit in with your theme.
5. Stencils
Paint is one of the cheapest ways, in any interior design project, to liven up a room and this is especially true when figuring out how to decorate kitchen bulkheads. Buy stencils that fit in with your theme, or even words such as "Good Morning" or "Will Trade Coffee for Gossip".
Choose one of these great ways to decorate soffits or mix and match a few. Instead of ignoring the bulkheads or just painting them out in hopes they will sink into the background, take the opportunity to make them a feature of the space. All of these tips will help you to turn the decorating dilemma of the heart of your home, into one of the best focal points in the room.
