Decorating Ideas for a Musical Room

Having a space, or an entire room in your home, dedicated to practicing instruments and singing is a wonderful thing. The interior design should reflect the activities. These steps for how to decorate a music room will inspire the musicians and songbirds in your family to keep creating and playing.

Step 1: Paint notes on the wall. Do this random and freehand or showcase a favorite tune.

Step 2: Frame old sheet music for artwork. Keep the frames simple, in either a black or white, so the paper itself stands out.

Step 3: Frame autographs and photographs of famous musicians and singers. The perfect motivation to keep practicing is looking at those that inspired you originally when decorating a music room.

Step 4: Collect all the books that you can find with musical subjects. Tutorials, biographies and songbooks should grace a bookshelf in the room for extra inspiration when needed.

Step 5: Use fabrics around the room that fit in with the other theme ideas. Buy solid covered fabric and use fabric paint to create your own patterns for a true custom look to your curtains, seat covers and tablecloths.

Step 6: Bring in antique instruments and equipment. For example, hang old violins on the wall and stick an old turn table record player in the corner.

Step 7: Create a custom bulletin board that complements the rest of the interior design of the space. Hang up favorite quotes and proverbs that put you in the mindset to create.

Step 8: Finish off decorating a music room by hanging up personal motivational pieces, such as photographs of you singing or playing instruments.

Hopefully all of these ideas have inspired you to create a beautiful musical space in your house to keep creating beautiful music at home.
