Fabric markers. Fabric markers are a great way to add your own unique touch to T-Shirts. Kids will really enjoy the creativity this allows them. Fabric markers are permanent and therefore the decorated T-Shirts can be washed over and over and the artwork will stay intact.
Iron on transfers. There are many different iron on patterns available, from simple to intricate. You can find these iron on transfers at your local craft store or even in the craft department of Wal-Mart. You just position the pattern on your T-Shirt and iron it on. The specific pattern you buy will tell you how long to hold the iron on the pattern. It couldn't be simpler.
Puff paint. Puff paints have been around for a while and there's a reason for that. Available in many different colors, puff paints can make any T-Shirt look like a work of art. Puff paint is even available in glow-in-the-dark form! The only drawback to puff paint is that you have to turn your T-Shirt inside out to wash it as the paint tends to start falling off after a number of washings.
Sew on patches. Craft stores these days carry a variety of sew on patches ranging in size from small to quite large. These patches require sewing, but only basic sewing. This is a great way to introduce your kids to a basic sewing technique. And the good news is that because the patches are sewn on, they don't fall off when you wash them.
Beads and Buttons. There are tons of beads and buttons available to embellish your T-Shirt with. Some are sparkly, some glittery, some are bright, some are big, some are little. Again, basic sewing is required but it doesn't take much effort and the designs will stay in place on your T-Shirt.
Lace and Ribbons. Lace and ribbons can make any T-Shirt look pretty. You can buy pre-folded ribbons or you can buy ribbon and make it into any design you want. Adding lace and ribbons is easy and will definitely give your T-Shirt a feminine look.
