Paint your wall
You may not realize it but painting your plain wall is the first step to completely changing the mood of your room. The color itself has a striking effect on how you feel when you walk in. Ask yourself what state of mind you want to be in when you look at your wall. Do you want to feel calm and innocent or do you want to feel welcomed and relaxed? Those are some of the questions I asked myself before deciding on the colors of orange and brown. Painting my walls brown as my primary color and painting my ceiling orange as my secondary color, was the perfect combination to take my plain wall room to extraordinary.
Wall Art and Wall Letters
My next goal was to personalize this room with a little wall art and wall letters. Choosing the right wall art was a very important step into transforming my plain wall into a more uplifting one. I was careful at choosing art that would compliment my primary and secondary colors, so I went with 3 pieces of yellow and orange art canvases that harmonized my colors really well. Surprisingly in my local newspaper I found a great deal on wall art at an estate sale. Adding a motivational saying in wall letters completed my wall and my next step was my lighting.
Room Lighting
The final step is making sure the lighting in your room gives the desired results you are looking for. Remember that light makes colors either lighter or darker. I was looking to tone my colors up a bit so I purchased 2 lamps that had dimmers already installed in them. This allowed me to brighten the colors up in my living room or darken them whenever I desired.
Using these 3 tips will allow you to convert your plain walls into your desired atmosphere. Shopping at local discount stores and attending estate sales will allow you to obtain these results at an affordable price.
