How to Decorate Your Porch in a Winter Wonderland Theme

Rosallee Scott
Whether you live where the snow flies or not, you can decorate your porch in a winter wonderland theme to fit the season. Guests to your home will instantly fill the spirit of this time of year. Visions of hot chocolate, sleigh rides, snow fights and snowmen will embrace every visitor that walks up to your home.

The Furniture
To keep the theme, invest in some white wicker furniture for the sitting area. The best part about this material is that it is easy to dress up for any season. For example, when summer hits, change out the cushions for a bright flower print to create a tropical oasis or red and blue pillows for an instant Americana feel. To decorate your porch in a winter wonderland theme, use fabrics in either a soft shiny blue or pure white.

The Decor
Hang some white or clear icicle lights all the way around the top. Also hang a few silver or white ceramic wind chimes that fit the theme. Examples include snowmen, snowflakes or simple icicle shapes to match the lights. White roses in blue glass, silver or crystal vases will add an elegant touch to the scene. Hang a favorite seasonal print, if you have the wall space to do so, to bring all of the decor pieces together. This could be a snow covered village or other nature picture that depicts the cold beauty of the season.

The Finishing Touches
Add a throw rug in the same hues of white, sliver or blue. Get a whimsical door mat for visitors to wipe their feet on. Place skis or snowshoes where you have your shoes lined up just for fun. Have a silver coffee set ready after you decorate your porch in a winter wonderland theme in case they do not want to come in and instead sit down right there to enjoy the spirit of the magical space.
