Slipcovers
If you have an old dining room chair or an old couch that needs to be covered, make a cheap slipcover with a few sheets and some upholstery tacks. Make sure you get the right size sheet for the job. A small chair will probably only need a full size sheet, but a couch will likely need more than one king size sheet. Find a good guide online to help you through the process and your will wonder why some people pay hundreds to get the same look.
Curtains
Two twin size sheets can make great curtains with absolutely no sewing. Simply take out the stitches at the top of the sheet so the rod can slip through and make sure to iron them out. Since sheets come in a variety of colors, you should be able to find something that fits your room well. So why spend $20 or more for curtains, when you can make your own with sheets for around $6.
Table Cloths
Sheets can also make very easy table cloths. Measure the table that you will be covering and see what size sheet you will need to use. Then take out the large hem at the top of the sheet and create a smaller hem that matches the rest of the sides. If you have a long rectangular table, that is all you are going to need to do. However if you have a square table, you will need to make the sheet fix the shape by doing just a little bit of cutting hemming. It is a very simple way to make a table cloth on a budget.
Pillows
Yet another way to decorate with sheets is to make pillows from the fabric. Simply cut two pieces of fabric to the same size and shape that you want and then sew three sides of the fabric together inside out. Then turn the fabric so the right side is out, fill it with stuffing, and sew the last side up. One twin side sheet can easily make two pillows. So if you need new throw pillows for your couch, take advantage of this cheap source of fabric.
Wall Art
Don't forget about putting art on your wall. Simply stretch the sheet fabric taught over a picture frame and staple it to the back. Then just get some fabric paint and a stencil to create a beautiful design. All you have to do after the paint has dried is hand it on your wall. Now that you know how to decorate with sheets, apply it to your own home. So cover up that ugly chair, make some pillows for it and fill up that blank space on your wall. The decorating possibilities with sheets are really limited only to your imagination.
