How to Decorate with Slanting Walls in a Bedroom

Interior Design for an Attic Bedroom

Having slanting walls in a bedroom, such as in an attic space, does not mean that you can not decorate the space with artwork or other accessories. There are simple things that you can do to bring in personality, as well as some creative solutions to showcase your interior design style, even if you do not have a level surface to work with.

Turn your attention to the flat wall(s) first. Even in the smallest of attic bedrooms, the back wall usually offers a level space. Put your bed on one side and a vanity or dresser with a mirror on the other. Hang any shelves in this area to showcase very fragile collections.

Buy low dressers that fit into the space below the slanting walls. If you cannot find a shorter, rectangular shaped full size dresser, buy a few smaller chest of drawers to line up side-by-side for clothes storage.

Screw artwork that are in cheaper frames, such as posters, into the slanting walls in all four corners. Do this at the top of the walls, right next to the peak of the ceiling.

Set beloved pieces of artwork on the floor, leaning against the walls, to show them off. This prevents having to damage the frame and looks especially artistic with paintings or larger prints.

Screw in decorative hooks at different levels throughout to space to hang wind-chimes, prisms or ornaments off of to create more visual interest. From the peak of the room hang Chinese lanterns or colorful spinner.

Bring in lights that you can hang or install along the angles of the attic bedroom as well. Old fashioned plug in lights, with long chains work well because you swag them along the room on hooks.

Use paint to create murals, stripes or other patterns to decorate with slanting walls in a bedroom, if you cannot find a solution otherwise. Have fun with, like creating an underwater theme so you feel less closed in or at least transported to a magical world.
