Decoupaged Country Pitcher Tall Arrangement
Supplies:
Country tin pitcher
Pale yellow acrylic paint
Country blue acrylic paint
Small and medium paint brushes
Floral fabric that incorporates the blue and yellow
Modge Podge
Foam brush
Clear varnish
Glue gun and glue sticks
Eucalyptus
Floral foam
Yellow and blue dried florals
Baby's breath
Scissors
Directions:
1. Wash and dry the country tin pitcher. Pour some yellow paint in a paint tray or old bowl. Using the medium sized brush, paint the outside and bottom of the pitcher yellow. Let dry. Repeat. I find it usually takes two coats to completely cover the pitcher.
2. Pour a small amount of country blue paint in an old dish. Using the small brush, paint the top, handle and bottom rim of the pitcher blue. Let dry.
3. Cut two floral pieces from the fabric.
4. Pour some Modge Podge in an old bowl. Using the foam brush, cover both the front and back of the first floral cloth piece. Place this piece centered to the front of the pitcher. Using a lightly damp sponge, gently press the fabric piece until it is secure to the pitcher. Repeat this step on the back side of the pitcher.
5. Using the medium brush, paint a coat of varnish over the entire country pitcher. This will help to secure the decoupaged pieces, and give the pitcher a nice finish.
6. Glue Styrofoam to the inside of the pitcher.
7. This is going to be a tall centerpiece, and using a ruler may help with measurements when beginning the centerpiece. Starting at the back, center of the floral foam, put a piece of eucalyptus that is approximately 12 inches in height. Place a piece of eucalyptus that is approximately 9 inches long on each side, and on the back and front of foam in the pitcher. Gradually fill in the eucalyptus within this frame, and until it forms a full, tall centerpiece.
8. Instead of filling in the arrangement one piece at a time, make mini bunches of the yellow, blue and white florals. Glue these bunches throughout the country pitcher centerpiece. Make sure to evenly distribute the colors throughout the centerpiece, and that there are no bare spots.
The website www.fashionfabricsclub.com offers a great selection of floral fabrics great for decoupaging.
