Change your cars air filter at least every 6 months. Air filters get dirty from road dirt and bugs and deprive your engine of air that can led to poor combustion in your cylinders. A clean air filter will provide the right amount of air getting to your cylinders for proper engine power.
Air filters are fairly easy to change yourself and don't require a mechanic to change. Just pop open the hood of your car and trace the air intake (located at the front of your car) back to a filter box. The cover of the filter box is usually held down by clips or a screws. Consultant your owner's manual for the correct filter replacement.
Keep your tires properly inflated. Check with your cars owner's manual for the correct psi. Under inflated tires will reduce your gas mileage.
Change your spark plugs to high performance plugs. High performance plugs will improve your cylinders combustion which will increase engine performance.
Get regular tune ups as designated in your owner's manual. Tune ups are an important part of keeping your engine running at peak performance.
Check engine oil regularly. It's very important that your oil levels are always full. Low oil levels will cause wear and tear on your engine parts and will reduce gasoline mileage.
By following these simple steps your gas mileage will improve.
