How to Deep Condition Hair

Quick Tips to Prevent Breakage

Hair breakage is not a sign of healthy hair. Many people experience hair breakage due to chemical treatments, heat styling, or failing to moisturize the hair. Changes in the weather often lead to the ends of the hair being exposed to the harsh wind. Here are some tips on how to use deep conditioning hair treatments to stop hair breakage.

The ends of the hair are the oldest part of the individual hair strand. Often times the hair will start to split or simply break off. Hair cuts that once were even may start to appear worn and ragged. Clipping the ends of the hair may help to ease the immediate undesirable look and stop the breakage. Split ends that are not addressed sometimes continue to split.

Here are some strategies to prevent hair breakage.

Moisturizing the hair with deep conditioning hair treatments is beneficial for all hair types. Look for deep conditioners that contain natural hair oils. There are protein based conditioners that can help severely damaged hair stop excessive shedding and breakage.

Deep Conditioning Hair Treatments

Homemade deep conditioners are easy to make and use. Mix in jojoba oil, olive oil, castor oil, or coconut oil into regular conditioner. Smooth this mixture on the hair and wait patiently for twenty minutes or more. Use body heat to help the conditioner work through all of the strands. A plastic cap helps capture the body heat that is being produced. Sitting under the hair dryer or using a hair bonnet will yield the same results.

Hair Growth Supplement

Consistently using a hair growth supplement is a good way to provide missing nutrients that may be lacking. Increase the amount of water that is consumed during the day. Try biotin, royal jelly, msm, flax seed oil, wheat germ oil, or fish oil to help the hair become stronger. Take some time to plan meals to include more protein rich foods. Examples are fish, organic meats, and organic dairy and green vegetables. A diet full of processed refined sugars robs the hair and the body of essential nutrients.

Heat Styling

There are many hair styles that simply are not possible without using heat. Invest in heat protective serums that contain grape seed oil, carrot oil, olive oil, or ceramides. Use ceramic curling irons, ceramic flat irons, and limit heat usage. Have days that are strictly no heat during hair styling. Instead use the cool setting on the blow dryer or diffuser. Experiment with roller sets, braid outs, and pin curls.

Take time each night to add a little bit of oils to the ends of the hair. Sleep on a silk or satin pillow case to avoid drying out the hair. Deep conditioners alone can help to improve the hairs health and appearance. Combining increased nutrition, hair growth supplements, water, and limiting heat styling will help keep split ends under control.
