How to Defeat Twilight Arachnid in Zelda Twilight Princess

Chris Tidwell
So you have found the first chard of the Twilight Mirror and are on your way to the second level, the Temple of Time. In this level you'll obtain the coveted Dominion Rod that has the power to control some statues. This level is also home to the boss monster Twilight Arachnid. This boss requires a lot of quick moving, good aim and a little bit of know how.

You'll start the fight looking around a huge arena where you'll notice four giant statures. You'll be able to take them over using the Dominion Rod, but they are unable to move, but they can attack by swinging their huge hammer. Now look up to the ceiling of the room and you'll be looking at the horrible giant spider boss Twilight Arachnid.

This monster is actually fairly easy to defeat, although some of its attacks can be rather annoying. The first portion of the fight will be simple. Aim using the Hero's Bow and shoot the spiders eye. When you do this the Spider will fall to the ground near one of the four statures. Quickly run to the stature closest to Twilight Arachnid and use the Dominion Rod on it. Then use the hammer attack to deal some damage to the spider.

At some points Twilight Arachnid will hatch small eggs and you'll be facing down a multitude of baby spiders. The quickest way to dispose of these little pests is to use either the Dominion Rod and use the statues hammer attack, or the Claw shot with Z targeting. The Claw shot with Z targeting works more effectively then arrows and is much faster against these little beasts.

While battling Twilight Arachnid you may be fired upon by the boss's laser attack. This beam will deal a considerable amount of damage, but can be easily avoided. The laser tracks you with great precision, however if you run in a small circle the laser will never touch you. This technique works well when you have a few random small spiders still roaming the arena and can't really afford being hit from the dark.

After hitting Twilight Arachnids Eye a few times and smashing it with the hammers you'll be faced with the creature's second form. The eye of Twilight Arachnid survives the first battle and will be carried by a lot of little spiders around the arena. This part is not tough at all, but rather annoying. You can never kill all the little spiders because ever time one dies another comes out of the wall to take it's place, so you'll have to attack the eye.

Many may be mislead, thinking you have to use the Dominion Rod to take over one of the statues and nail a direct hit on the eye, however that's not the case. From a clear spot, whip out your bow and arrow and shoot the eye a couple of times. Now the eye will be defeated, the spiders dead, and the next fragment of the Twilight Mirror in your grasp! Only one Mirror left to go, until the entire thing is reassembled.
