How to Delete Amazon Viewed Items History

As one of the most popular shopping sites on the Internet, millions use Amazon.com everyday to search for and purchase gifts. If you use a shared computer in your home, the last thing you want is the surprise to be spoiled because your Amazon browsing history is displayed the next time Amazon is opened. Deleting your Amazon viewed items history only takes a few steps and can be done with or without an account.

Personally, I usually browse Amazon without logging in. Since three people use the same computer in my home, no one stays logged in anywhere. If I make a purchase, I log in and then right back out. Regardless, my browsing history still pops up on the Amazon home page no matter who uses the computer next. To prevent anyone from seeing what I purchased, I removed the history after I logged out. I also always turn off my browsing history near birthdays and holidays such as Valentines and Christmas.

Delete Amazon Browsing History Without An Account

Visit the Amazon home page. Scroll down past the main product advertisement which typically takes you below the categories section on the left side of the screen. You will see two sections. The first is More Items To Consider and contains items you may like to view based upon your search history. The other section is Related to Items You've Viewed. Essentially it is the same thing, but it includes items recently viewed as well.

Under each section, you'll find a link which states View or edit your browsing history. Click this link. Under Manage Your Browsing History on the left side of the screen, click the Delete All Items button. At this point, it is pointless to click Turn off your browsing history since it applies only to specific accounts.

Delete Amazon Browsing History With An Account

If you have an Amazon account, log in now. Select Your Account on the right side of the screen above Wish List and Cart. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the section entitled Personalization. Clear your Amazon browsing history without turning history save off by selecting View and edit your browsing history. Press Delete All Items to clear your history.

Turn off future history by selecting Your Browsing History Settings in the Personalization section. Near the top left of the screen, press the Turn off browsing history button. This will turn off Amazon's browsing history for the particular browser. Please note that if you use a different browser, you will need to repeat this process to turn it off for individual browsers.
