How to Delete Apps from the IPod Touch

J. Darling
Not being the biggest techie, I wasn't really sure what the capabilities of the iPod Touch were. I'd never owned or used a "real" (non-cell phone) mp3 player before, so my mind was blown when I started using my new toy. Like a kid in a candy store, I downloaded a number of free apps from the iTunes store, only to discover after the installation and a few uses that I didn't really need or want them. If you have applications on your iPod Touch that you want to delete to free up space, it only takes a moment. Here's how.

1. Find the icon of the unwanted application. Touch and hold the icon for a few seconds. You will notice that most of the icons begin to "wiggle" and each app you purchased from the iTunes App Store has a little "x" in the upper left corner.
2. Click the "x" and you will be prompted with the question, "Delete '(name of application)"? You will also see a warning that deleting the application will result in a loss of all its data.
3. Click "Delete" and voila! The application has been deleted.

There are some pre-installed icons/programs that you can't delete from your iPod Touch, but they can be moved to a different screen in most cases. It's also important to remember that if you're seriously "done" with the application to remove it from the iTunes account that you use to synch your iPod, or manually select items to be synchronized when you connect your iPod to your computer.
