Knowing how to delete every file on your computer through the automated delete command can save you considerable time. Typically, to delete every file on your computer, you would need to manually delete every file by clicking the file and dragging it to your trash bin (Mac) or Recycle Bin (PC) using the delete button. However, there are easier ways to erase every file by deleting every file on your computer automatically.

In this computer guide, I will show you how to erase every file and delete every file on your computer hard drive with the automated delete command.

How to Delete Every File On Your Computer With Delete Commands:

Step 1 of Deleting Every File: Click the Start menu in the lower left-hand corner of your Windows PC screen. Select Run from the Start menu. In the pop-up dialog box, type "command" (without quotation marks) and click Run.

Step 2 of Deleting Every File: Use DIR or CD to move through the menu that appears. Start with your Documents and Settings folder to being deleting every file. This now lists every file on your computer hard drive and you can automatically delete every file.

Alternatively, you can selectively delete every file by the type of file it is on your hard drive. For example, you can go to your C:\\ hard drive partition, and list every file that ends with .html by typing "DEL *.html". This will automatically delete every file on your computer that ends with that file extension. To search for another type of file to delete, replace the file extension listed after the asterisk.

With these helpful guides, you can automatically delete every file on your computer using the automated delete commands to quickly and efficiently delete every file and save time when erasing files.
