How to Delete Song Off IPod

The Apple iPod is one of the most popular MP3 players in the world. Depending on the storage capacity of your iPod you can store thousands upon thousands of songs, movies, audiobooks, and podcasts on your iPod. However if you tire of particular songs or want to free up space for new music you can easily do so with your computer, the iTunes software, and your iPod's USB dock or cable.

Connect one end of the iPod USB cable to the port on the bottom of the iPod. Connect the smaller end of the iPod USB cable into an available USB port on your desktop or laptop computer. If you have an iPod charging dock, connect the dock to a USB port on the computer and insert the iPod right side up into the dock.

Wait for iTunes to automatically launch once connected. If iTunes fails to automatically launch when the iPod is connected, locate the iTunes icon on the desktop of the computer and double click on it. You may also locate the iTunes icon on Macs by going down to the dock and clicking once on the icon. On Windows click on the "Start" menu button followed by the "All Programs" item. Select "Apple iTunes" from the list of folders and double click the iTunes program.

Once in iTunes wait for the iPod device to show up under "Devices" in the column on the left side of iTunes. Click once on the iPod icon. A new section appears in the right section of iTunes which details information such as capacity, update status, and sync settings.

Click on the small arrow next to the iPod icon in the left column to reveal multiple items including "Music," "Video," "Audiobooks," and "Podcasts." Click on the "Music item. A list of all the available tracks currently on the iPod appear in the right side window of iTunes.

Click on the song you want to remove and press the delete key on your keyboard. You can also right click on the song and select delete or remove from iPod. A confirmation message will pop up, select OK to proceed. If another message appears asking you if you want to erase or keep the file choose keep the file. Otherwise the song will be deleted from both the iPod and your computer hard drive.

You can also use the search box in the upper right of iTunes to enter the name of the song or artist whose music you want to delete from the iPod.

Repeat these steps for each additional song that you want to delete from the iPod device. Note that you can always re add songs later on if you wish.
