Kalai Selvi Arivalagan
When I first ate this dish, I found it utterly delicious. The tasty blend of curd and tender banana stem made a very rare combination. Why don't you try it for yourself?

Tender banana stem suits this dish well. After removing the outer hard covering of the banana stem, slice the tender, middle portion of the banana stem into small round pieces. Wash it in a bowl of water mixed with a tablespoon of buttermilk. Adding buttermilk to the water helps the banana stem to retain its white color. Squeeze the pieces and smash it in the small bowl of your mixi till it becomes a smooth paste. You can add one or two green chillies to enhance the flavor of this dish. Don't add more than two green chillies.

Take the fresh curd in a bowl. Pour the mixture of banana stem and green chillies into the bowl. Mix it well. Add a pinch of salt to taste. Sprinkle the bowl with the leaves of coriander. Chill it in the fridge before serving.

This dish goes well with Chapattis, vegetable pulav and tomato rice. Your kids will eat without making much fuss. Banana stem is rich in fiber content and it helps for the easy bowel movement.

Usually many of the people at home don't eat if the banana stem is made in any other form. This dish will definitely make them eat banana stem and get the benefits of it. Tender banana stem prevents the formation of kidney stones. It helps the kidneys to function well and remove the toxic substances from the blood.
