How Dell Customer Service Ruined My Day

Nigel Roc
I am a new Dell customer. I purchased an XPS M1330 from them last December 16, 2008 that caused me over a thousand dollars. I was happy with the design and the specifications of the computer. I chose the red colored chassis because that's the most attractive display that they have on their web site. They even offered me some offer since they said I can qualify on their Dell Preferred Account which I can pay my computer monthly and in installment basis. I didn't accept that offer because I don't want to have another credit line so I paid it using my credit card. The transaction was fast. They immediately processed my order and charged it on my account. They said I will get the computer for about 3 to 5 business days so I waited. It's almost five days and I haven't received any computer yet.

I called their number 1-866-478-0515, they transferred me to their customer care department. A lady answered my call. She sounds like a Pakistani or wherever in the Middle East. I was having a hard time understanding her. She speaks English very incomprehensibly. I needed to have her repeat herself several times just for me to understand every word that she is saying. She said that there's a delay on the delivery of my computer because they have tons of orders the day I ordered my computer so they don't have enough manpower to process every order. I asked her why they haven't told me that when I purchased the computer and she just became silent and put me on hold for about 20 minutes. When she came back, she apologized and told me that they will be doing an ownership on my case and promised to call me back after 2 days.

I waited and after two days, I haven't heard from anyone from Dell. I called them back and they told me that my computer is already in transit and will be delivered to me after 3 business days. I've had enough with them so I told them that I'm not interested in their product anymore and wanted a refund. They tried to stop me to get a refund by giving me some vouchers but I didn't fall for it. Finally they approved a refund on my credit card and I got the credit back after 3 business days.

The experience that Dell gave me was so frustrating. I was expecting a much better service but what they offered me was a waste. I have learned my lesson and I will never purchase a product from them again.
