Forget photo frames and photo albums. Display your pictures right on the wall without expense. Simply use the photos you already have to make a design that represents you or your home.
Whether you decide to create a dolphin, a huge key, a lighthouse, or giant words, the photos will be used to make the design. You're only limited by your imagination on this particular project.
Outline the design you plan to use or just arrange the photos into the desired shape. For example, if you wanted to make giant letters, you'll simply tape the pictures to the wall, arranging them to form the letters. Overlap the photos, combine black and white pictures, and fill in the letter shapes with even more pictures.
If you want you can use chalk to draw the desired shape directly onto the wall. Then use photos to outline the shape. Now tape more photos to fill in the design. All the pictures don't have to be arranged side-by-side. Overlap them, turn some at an angle, and even cut circles or diamond shapes to tape on the wall.
The photos don't all have to have the same theme. Combine holiday pictures, school pictures, vacations photos, and more. You can even combine your photos with pictures you've cut from magazines or posters. The giant collages are very impressive. If you have a small room make a smaller design just as easily.
If you want the photo display to have a more distinctive outline try paint markers. Draw the desired shape onto the wall then fill it in with photos. The paint markers give a heavy outline to the photo display.
You can add other craft supplies to the wall collages to enhance it. Stickers, felt shapes, faux jewels and other items can be easily attached to the photo display. Use stickers, for instance, to spell out words right on top of the photos. Don't want to ruin your photos with stickers? Make a copy of the photo and save the real picture.
The unusual photo display is great for living rooms, dens, bedrooms and nurseries. Make a puppy shape for a baby's room and fill it in with pictures of the child. Or, make a peace sign for an older child's room and fill it in with the chosen pictures. The displays are so much fun and very easy to make. Other than the photos and tape there's no cost to make the display.
Some ideas for display shapes include pets, the name of your town or state, your first or last name, initials, flowers, a baby buggy, cars, houses or buildings, a giant sun, trees, or people shapes.
The design you make doesn't absolutely have to be made from photographs. You can cut pictures out of food boxes, for instance, and spell "Kitchen" from the images. There are many possibilities for making the unique displays.
If you must protect your photos cut a piece of clear acetate, into the shape you've designed, and place it over the arrangement. The acetate will allow people to see the photos clearly but will protect them from dust and dirt.
So, you've collected hundreds of photos over the years? Why keep them hidden in boxes or albums? Get 'em out and get busy with this project. You'll be impressed with your own talent, and so will your friends and family!

Post a CommentThis is a great idea. My friends and I are playing on trying this in our living room but we don't want to mess the walls up, what would I use to apply the pictures to the wall?
Great idea! Thanks!
Awesome idea. Very helpful. No surprise here.
