Linda Elliott
The kitchen is the busiest room in the house. This is where too many duties are carried out. A spacious and functional kitchen is a great plus. Despite the impossibility of renovating the whole kitchen to fit your needs, you could still reconstruct what you already have with a little creativity and resourcefulness.

Foremost, you have to de-clutter your kitchen of the things that are not in use already. These things add up to the bulk of the whole room; in turn, you can't use the occupied space for more important stuff. After you have done this, try to invent ways in which you could use your kitchen spaces in a variety of ways. In this way, you could do multiple things in one place. Hence, there is no need for you to build a whole new corner just for a particular task. Does your kitchen counter extend up to the sink? Make the whole area your washing, cutting, preparing and serving area. Do you have little cabinets around? Use them as an improvised chair or table. Find ways to explore and enhance what you already have, It is the most keen and convenient way.

Are you the type of homemaker who can't rid of items in a snap? Do you have a soft heart for utensils which are not being used often? If you are, then it is most likely that stuffs are stacked up even when not in use. Avoid this dilemma by building tall cabinets. These tall cabinets will not bother your walking space at all. At the same time, you will have a practical place for seasonal items.

It is also a good idea for you to invest in small items so as to basically save space. Even if you think that such appliances are small for your kitchen, purchase them. It could be of benefit once more and more items are added up as time pass by. You could even install hanging compartments for your microwaves, etc. The previous space could be utilized for other things like storage bins, condiments and gas stove.

In purchasing your refrigerator, consider the space saving quality of it. Opt for those which have the balanced amount of depth. If possible, go for those which are not too tall so you could also use the top shelf as a storage place.

For visual deception of size, go for neutral and light colored paints around the kitchen to convey a big and spacious feel. It may not increase the space of your kitchen technically but it will surely be pleasing to the eyes.
