Mizana has developed a Natural Curl Key to help identify the hair type of the client and any special needs it may have. Once you determine the texture of their hair, you can more accurately recommend the most beneficial hair care regimen to your client. This can include chemical services, styling and product recommendations.
The Mizani Curl Keys identifies eight distinct global hair types. Each texture is number by Roman Numerals-from Type I to Type VIII. You can also use the Key to determine the texture of celebrity hair favorites and see which products work best for clients who desire the same look. As you know, many of your clients like to duplicate styles they see on celebrities.
If we look at Jennifer Lopez' hair, we can determine she has Type II texture. That is described as an open wave with loose, S-shaped, curved patterns. This texture pattern is medium to thick and sometimes can get oily at the roots. A good clarifying conditioner and light moisturizing conditioners will work best. This texture of hair has great body and volume. This works great for up do styles.
Another celebrity we can review is Alicia Keys. She has Type IV texture hair. This is defined as curly, defined, mixed curl patterns. This is a great hair type to have. Her curly texture can be worn naturally curly or can easily be blown smooth and straight. This type can vary from fine to course hair. She would benefit from using intense moisturizing treatments on a regular basis.
When we talk about First Lady Michelle Obama, we think sophistication. Her hair is Type VI texture. This can be described as coiled, loose afro. This texture is often relaxed and the relaxer process is fairly effective. Moisture and protein treatments done weeks are essential for this hair type. Her texture has lots of volume and shine.
By identifying the type of curl your client has, you can increase you chance of success. Your client will appreciate that you know their hair and how to treat and style it.
