How to Detox Your Body

Tina Samuels
Detoxing has become very in fashion in health circles. Ridding the body of toxins has been around for ages, but now is more common than ever. If you want higher energy and a better body in both looks and the way it feels, perhaps a detox is what you need. Detoxification generally involves taking toxins and impurities out of the body in many different ways. Some can be generally be peed out or sweated out.

To eliminate impurities and toxins from your body you may decide to first develop a healthier lifestyle and start your body to a healthier state. This would be by eliminating alcohol, nicotine, coffee, fatty food, and sugars from your daily routine. Some eliminate anything with chemicals such as household cleaners, and some personal hygiene products. This of course is up to you and I would just start with the reduction of the fatty foods, sugars, coffee and alcohol. Stop smoking too, as it's one of the easiest ways to help detox your body. Diets that are without fats and sugars, but rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, have a much healthier body and more energy naturally. Think about doing just dietary changes for a long lasting detox.

A simple way to help you detox in the long term, add a skin brush to your shower routine once or twice a week. This will remove old cells and help you keep your lymph node system in full working order. You can find skin brushes in some of the better quality bath and body shops in your area. Use one with soft vegetable bristles and not a stiff bristle. You want to just do light circles over your body, starting with your feet and working up, before a shower. This simple less than five minute addition to your bath, can help you rid toxins and draw out impurities. Your skin will look and feel better after just a few times of it, and your inner body will be helped each time you do it.

Fasting has long been one of the simplest ways to help detox your body and rid itself of the "junk" that's clogging up the system. If you want a quickie detox, one with short term solutions you can fast. You can have juice fasts or water fasts. Juice fasts are simply where you take a set of days and just drink juices from vegetables and fruits. You do this for one to three days, and you need to drink non citrus fruit juices. I'd suggest apple, cranberry, or carrot. Water fasting is simply a one to three day event where you drink nothing but water. This way your organs rest and you will release the impurities and toxins in your digestive tract to be peed out of your body.

If you want to add a sauna to the mix, do so either before or after a fast. Going into a sauna will help you sweat out different things like chemicals in your fat cells. Not only does it feel good but it does good for your body.

Take time out this summer to do a simple detox on your body and see if you don't have more energy and feel better. Whether that be through fasting, skin brushing, sauna, or through a long term dietary change, you will see results.
