The art of concentration is critical to your problem solving and meditation skills. In a society with so many distractions (television, computers, etc) often it is very difficult to concentrate on any one thing for an extended period of time. With time and practice, we all can learn to became good problem solvers. Let's start by completing the following project. All you will need is an old wooden pencil and a note tablet. Do not leave anything out. Concentrate on the pencil entirely and record everything that comes to mind. Practice this on a new subject every day for two weeks. Start out small by using a pencil, move on to a knife or fork. When you think you have mastered this, try using a flower as the subject. You will be amazed at how much information you can obtain from one small flower.
Finally, use this system as a benchmark for solving your problems. Whatever the problem may be, write it down and go over it in detail. Continue to write every small aspect regarding the problem. You may include things, such as, how long the problem has been going on, how did the problem start, what are the ramifications of the problem, etc.
After you have outlined the entire problem. The next step is to practice your meditation skills. Find a very quiet place, free of distractions or noises. Close your eyes and calmly review your problem. Now, begin a conversation with your subconscious. You might say something like, "OK, subconscious, I know you are full of wonderful ideas. Let's see how you will handle this question." Take your time and wait for a response. If you do not get an immediate response, be patient. Your answer will come to you during a relaxing moment. You may be watching television or reading a book, when this happens.
Once you have learned these skills and have implemented them into your daily life, you will be amazed at how much easier your life will be!
