Developing an Internet Marketing Campaign

Online marketing, promotion and advertising can be expensive, especially if you don't have a plan. O here are a few tips, ideas and suggestions as to how to develop an online marketing campaign/marketing plan and what to include.

1. Decide what you want to achieve from your marketing. For example do you want increased awareness, increased sales and so on. Create SMART (Specific, Measured, Achievable, Realistic, Timed) goals and targets and work to them.

2. Decide what types of online marketing you want to pursue. For example SEO, pay per click advertising, banner advertising, blogging, social networking and so on.

3. Work out a budget and a timescale. Work out how much you have to spend, and how long you want or even have to implement these strategies.

4. Create a website. Not just a run of the mill one that looks like its been made at home, nor one that has so much flash on it that people lose interest and click off your site after a few seconds, but instead a website that draws people in and gets their interest - Have a look around, view other peoples websites, find out what you like, what your customers and clients like and then turn your ideas into reality.

TOP TIP: Remember that not everything in your Internet Marketing/Online Marketing Campaign has to cost money - for example you could incorporate and use free marketing tools such as articles and blogs.

5. Work on your SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) Work out how you will get found in the major search engines and how much this will cost you. Remember that this will not happen overnight, but with a little bit of time, effort, planning and persistence you should end up seeing positive results.

6. Start working on how you will measure your campaigns effectiveness and results. Decide when you will measure your results, sales, website statistics and so on.

7. Work on your conversions. Online marketing and building an online marketing campaign boils down to one thing, and that is getting more conversions (sales) So bare this in mind when you are undertaking all of your various ideas. Work out how you will get more viewers to your websites and blogs, and more to the point how you will turn these viewers into customers or clients.

TOP TIP: Do your homework and your market research. Don't try to reach everyone, everywhere - this will not work. Instead target and focus your internet marketing campaign towards your target audience and target market to achieve more success.
