There will be times during a pinball game when a team increases caution to protect their flag and become less aggressive about attacking their opponent. This is particularly troublesome if the opponent advances closer to the base. A well thought out defense plan may help them turn the tables and win the game. Here are some time-tested defensive tactics tips that a team can use to win at paintball.
1. It's important for a player to protect himself from opponents firing at him from all directions. It is equally important for a player to become skilled at concealing his position from potentially near by opponents.
2. Find concealment first. This is more important than finding a safe spot to hide. Catching an opponent off guard is the best offensive strategy to use. The attacker's response will probably to fire in any direction that he thinks the attack is coming from to prevent from being eliminated.
3. The team leader should assign each team member to a different position - apart from each other. As a group, a team becomes more vulnerable, to attack and can be fired on by opponents, resulting in multiple hits and eliminations with very few rounds fired.- and loose the game.
4. The team leader has the added responsibility to serve as the back up for the other team members. He must keep them with sight at all times in order respond to requests for a counter attack during a surprise firefight.
5. The leader must also control his firepower by concentrating on one target to reduce team effort and increase efficiency. It is unwise to fire at a sure target unless another team member requests cover from his launches.
In paintball, a strong offensive move is always supported by an equally strong defensive position. When a person hits his target it also means he is playing a good defensive game because he knows where the opposing players are. When his shot eliminates an opponent, he puts himself in a better position to advance and find new targets. Clearly, developing a winning combination of offensive and defensive tactics is an excellent strategy to excel at paintball games.
