What is the major difference between someone who has been working for a company for 10 years versus a newer employee that has only been with the company for 2-3 years, yet they make the same amount of money? Most likely it is their self-confidence. Whether you believe it or not, just working hard will not be enough to allow you to succeed to your full potential. You have to possess great self-confidence to show others that you know what you want. It also shows that you are assertive, which is a characteristic that lot of companies are looking for, especially in a social-oriented society. This also applies to other situations like dating, and how people with more confidence tend to get more dates. Here are 4 tips that can help develop or boost your self-confidence.

1. Spend time with people who are confident themselves. It has been shown that the more you spend time with a group of people, the more you will act and think like them. Spending time with others who are insecure and negative all the time, will most likely not get you far in life. You have to make an effort to spend time with people who are positive so that you can learn from them.

2. List things that you have done that you are proud of. They can be things like the skills you have acquired, the goals you have accomplished, and other qualities about yourself that you like about yourself. Thinking positively will help you boost your confidence.

3. Find a mentor. You can learn a lot from a mentor with a lot of experience and sound advice. If you have one in your life or find one, make sure that you are open with him or her and discuss your strengths and weaknesses. They are the ones who will motivate you to succeed, take initiative, and feel good about yourself.

4. Always hope for the best and never stop trying. Tell yourself that you can achieve things if you just put your mind into it. Confidence is just a feeling, so by always striving to be best and remaining positive, you will achieve more.
