1. Work smarter and not harder. Working smarter and not harder frees up more of your time and energy to develop yourself and your skills, be it learning a new language or perhaps starting up your own business.
2. Participate and be active. By this I mean participate and be active in anything that you are passionate about. When you are passionate about something you learn a lot more, and you can develop yourself, your attitude and so on a lot more when your passionate about what you are doing.
3. Be confident. Developing yourself requires confidence, amongst other things such as assertiveness, adaptability and effectiveness.
4. Seek advice and help. Nobody is saying you have to develop yourself all on your own, If it helps you why not seek advice and guidance, this could be in the form of a friend, family member or professional such as a life coach/life counsellor or similar.
5. Be patient and don't be too hard on yourself. Developing yourself and learning more doesn't usually happen overnight so don't apply too much pressure to yourself and just enjoy the whole process.
6. Don't change everything - unless of course you want to! Developing yourself doesn't necessarily require you to change everything about yourself and everything that you do.
7. Gain control, Keep in control and stay in control if you want to learn more and develop yourself, dot hand the reigns over to anyone else.
8. Decide what you want to achieve, for example do you want to develop yourself so that you can pursue a new career, a new house and so on. Deciding what you want to achieve will give and provide you with the focus you need to develop yourself.
9. Decide and discover how you will get to where you want to be. Developing yourself and learning more is one thing, getting their is another, so create a plan as to what you want to achieve, by when and how, this will also act as a guide and will provide focus.
10. Establish where you are now. You can't really go anywhere, learn more or develop yourself until you establish where you are now and where you would like to be.
11. Look at all the options out there that are available to you. Don't just jump into the first thing you see, instead think long and hard about what you want to learn, how you want to develop and why.
I hope you have found this article both useful and helpful. Good luck with learning and developing yourself, I wish you every success.
